What not to do when you are raising a child.....
Prologue
There are plenty of books which tell you what to do when raising a kid. So, I will try to put down things you should not do. Of course, it also is a catchy phrase and there are fewer NOTs than all DOs.
This is still a work in progress, since my dad-hood hasn't progressed well beyond a toddler-hood. But my son has graduated his new-born and infant stages. I wouldn't say flying colors here because you should NEVER judge how your kid is doing. Well - this can be the #1 thing to not do - don't judge your child! And I will talk about it later on why you shouldn't do that. But to start off I can definitely write down what we (me and my wife) have experienced so far.
All you new parents there - this is no way a definition of how it would be with your children. Each child is different, but hey, again they are kids, so more or less you would have similar situations. I am no doctor or a child psychologist, though all parents at some point have googled enough to write at-least some kind of pediatric examination. But take this just as another experience and not what you should do in your own case. Please talk to your doctor for any medical reasons and use your own judgement.
I know the last line above is a serious one but do NOT assume something or decide to do something based off something written in a blog or uploaded on youtube. What you read online is might be very rare case or a very common thing. So it may not apply to you. I know it's bit confusing - because we need to know whats happening with us. But thats how it is. Even doctors won't be able to help you on the phone all the time. In some cases, you need to visit the docs which is a bit frustrating given this covid situation. But who said having kids is easy!
Ok enough scaring, on a lighter note, its a great learning experience and we should put it on our resume. After all having children teaches us to have patience, persevere, spend sleepless nights, learn cooking and countless other things. Kids I think contribute hell lot on keeping any mental illness away. You will be so busy taking care of your career and kids that there won't be any time to contract any mental condition. On a serious note though this is true, you can read all about the chemicals released when you are around a baby.
I think I am done with this prologue section. Time for DON'Ts will be in the chapters next. Adios!
